ABOUT MOOLEPAT CHURCH

Geographically situated nearby Pazhanji in the Thrissur district of Kerala, the Mar Baselios Mar Gregorios Orthodox New Church, famously known as the Moolepat Church, is a church belonging to the Kunnamkulam Diocese of Malankara (Indian) Orthodox Church. The Parish was founded in 1929 by the devotees who were earlier part of our maternal parishes in Pengamuck and Pazhanji.

His Grace Dr. Geevarghese Mar Yulios is the Metropolitan of the diocese. The primate of the Church is the Catholicos of the East, currently His Holiness Baselios Marthoma Mathews III.

Fr. Joseph Cheruvathoor serves as the current vicar of our parish.

Popular for using the architectural patterns as found in the Eastern Spiritual Culture, the Mar Baselios Mar Gregorios Orthodox New Church stands tall amongst the community in Moolepat, as a tower of peace, constantly attracting people and its surroundings towards it. Still standing afresh by its beauty and appealing geographic location, the parish is a memorabilia of our forefathers’ eternal love for God and their willingness to sacrifice themselves...

SAINTS OF OUR PARISH

The Cappadoican Fathers, Valiya Mar Baselios (Saint Basil the Great) and Mar Gregorios (Gregory of Nazianzus) who were the Metropolitan of Caesarea and Patriarch of Constantinople, respectively, are the Saints of Our Parish.
